Mumbai has officially become the most forgetful city in India, replacing Delhi at the top of Uber India’s 9th Annual Lost and Found Index. Delhi, which held the title for two years, now slips to second place, followed by Pune, Bangalore, and Kolkata.
The list ranks cities based on how often riders forget their belongings in cabs. The most commonly forgotten items? Bags, phones, wallets, earphones, and even passports! Some riders even left behind unusual items like wedding sarees and gold biscuits.
Looks like when it comes to leaving things behind, Mumbai takes the lead. The Uber Lost and Found report revealed some truly unusual items left behind by riders. One passenger forgot a wedding saree, while another left a gold biscuit in the cab. In even stranger cases, someone forgot 25 kg of cow ghee, and another person left behind a cooking stove. Other quirky forgotten items included a wheelchair, flute, hair wig, and even a telescope.
According to the report, Saturdays were the most forgetful day of the week, and around 7 PM was the peak time for losing things. When it came to colours, red items topped the list of most-forgotten belongings, followed by blue and yellow.
People seemed more forgetful on festive days, with May 10 (Akshay Tritiya) and August 3 (Shivratri) seeing a spike in lost items. Among all the cities, Hyderabad had the most careful riders, reporting the fewest lost items. As for phones, Samsung users were the most likely to forget their devices, followed by Apple and OnePlus users.
