Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Tuesday broke his silence on the political firestorm over stand-up comedian Kumar Kamra’s ‘gaddar’ (traitor) joke, asserting that “we understand satire, but there should be a limit”.
The Deputy Chief Minister also appeared to subtly justify the vandalism of Mumbai studio by Shiv Sena workers, aying, “Action causes reaction.” His statement comes amid mounting criticism of the attack, with opposition leaders calling it an assault on free speech.
