Mumbai: The BSE announced on Thursday that it will discontinue Bankex and Sensex 50 contracts from the weekly contracts offered by the exchange by mid-November. The move was announced after Sebi on Tuesday said that each exchange will be allowed to provide derivatives contracts for only one of its benchmark indices with weekly expiry.

The existing Sensex weekly contracts will remain active as the sole offering from the exchange, as per the regulator’s directive.

The weekly index derivatives contracts on Sensex 50 will be discontinued with effect from November 14 end of day while Bankex will be discontinued from November 18.

“New weekly contracts will not be generated after the expiry of existing unexpired contracts. Existing unexpired contracts will continue till their respective expiry,” said the BSE’s notice.
