There was chaos in South Delhi’s Bhogal where Delhi Water Minister Atishi continued her indefinite hunger strike, which entered the second day on Saturday, over the water crisis in the national capital.
Protesters raised slogans against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, following which they were taken out by AAP workers.
Atishi sat on an indefinite fast on Friday, alleging that Haryana was not releasing Delhi’s rightful share of water in Yamuna.
In a video message from her ‘Jal Satyagrah’ venue, Atishi said she will not eat anything till Haryana releases more water for the people in the city. Atishi said 110 million gallons per day (MGD) less water was released by Haryana on Friday.
“One MGD water provides for 28,000 people. Shortage of 100 MGD water means 28 lakh people are not getting water in Delhi,” she said.
A video from the protest site, showed people enraged, as an announcement was being made, asking them not to create chaos.
AAP VS BJP OVER ATISHI’S HUNGER STRIKE
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj termed Atishi’s fast a “sham”, alleging it was a “political drama” to hide her “inaction”.
“Atishi is an unsuccessful water minister. It was clear since February this year that Delhi would endure a long summer, but she made no preparations for it,” Swaraj charged.
Attacking Atishi, BJP’s Delhi unit on Saturday posted a video showing no AAP leaders at the protest site. “What kind of indefinite Satyagraha is this, where Atishi goes to eat and rest in an AC room during lunch time and at night! A big scam is going on,” BJP’s Delhi unit tweeted.
Soon, AAP leader Sanjay Singh hit back at the BJP and tweeted, “Fraudsters of BJP should know that whoever sits on Ansan, their medical check up is done by doctors. Medical reports are prepared. Send your Union Minister, Send Nayab Singh Saini — if you are wrong, give Delhi its share of water.”
