Lorde had plans to throw a last-minute event in NYC’s Washington Square Park tonight but, after tons of people showed up, she posted that it was shut down by cops before it could even begin. “Omg @thepark the cops are shutting us down,” she wrote. “I am truly Amazed by how many of you showed up !!! But they’re telling me you gotta disperse … I’m so sorry.”
Well, she made it happen after all. A few hours later, she made her way to the park and danced and sang along as she debuted her new single “What Was That” through a PA system. Here’s video of it going down:
