Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 108.66 points up at 23437.2 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Kesoram Inds., Gensol Engg, Keerti Knowledge, TGB Banquets and Karda Const, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 33 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 17 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, ONGC, Trent and Adani Ports SEZ were among top gainers during the day, while Maruti Suzuki, Hindalco, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finance and L&T ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 309.4 points up at 77044.29. Traders piled up positions in General, IT Enabled Services, Services, Auto and Engineering sectors, while selling was witnessed in Textiles, Construction, Fertilisers, Auto Ancillaries and Cement sectors during the day.
