Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence under the Donald Trump administration, will soon arrive in India as part of a multi-nation tour of the Indo-Pacific.

Sharing details of her visit, Gabbard said that the trip aims to strengthen relationships and foster open communication to advance President Trump’s goals of peace and freedom.

“I am wheels up on a multi-nation trip to the Indo-Pacific, a region I know very well having grown up as a child of the Pacific. I’ll be going to Japan, Thailand, and India, with a brief stop in France enroute back to DC (sic),” Gabbard tweeted.

“Building strong relationships, understanding, and open lines of communication are vital to achieving President Trump’s objectives of peace, freedom and prosperity,” she added.

This will be Gabbard’s first visit to India since assuming office as the intelligence chief and the first female combat veteran to hold the position in the second Trump administration.

In February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met Gabbard in Washington during his visit to the United States. She was the first US official to meet Modi at Blair House.

PM Modi had tweeted that the two had discussed various aspects of India-US relations.

“Met USA’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard in Washington DC. Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary,” PM Modi posted on X.

Her Indo-Pacific trip will start with Honolulu where she will visit Intelligence Community partners and US Indo-Pacific Command leaders, and the US troops engaging in training, according to Gabbard. However, she has not confirmed the date of her arrival in India.

Tulsi, who represented Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District in the US House of Representatives, was the first Hindu in the US Congress.
